			Zhou Enlai (1898-1976): he was a famous revolutionary as well, politician,militarist and envoy.Memorials to him in Shaoxing are gallery of his lifetime, former residence, ancestral home, baisui hall and zhouenlai square.They are now listed in the state preservation.



			The late premier Enlai Zhou’s ancestral residence was located on the Baoyouqiao River (now at 369 Labour Street.)

	Premier Zhou once said, “I was born in Huai-an, Jiangsu Province. But my ancestral home was in Shaoxing.”




	According to the local chorography, the residence on the Baoyouqiao River was started during the Ming Dynasty.



	The house is made up of three groups of buildings, each of which consists of three rooms. The whole residence lies in the north with its ancient styled gate facing the south. The handwriting on the he house plaque was written by Chenyun himself.

	Now the residence has been renamed as ‘Memorial to Enlai Zhou’. In memory of him on his hundredth birthday, the government built ‘Enlai Zhou Square’. A bronze statue of him is laid there.
